X is for Xylophonist

Once again I have picked a theme for the A to Z Challenge. This time I aim to entertain rather than to educate. My theme is careers or occupations. I begin with a piece of creative writing.

Xavier and Xena are xylophonists. They play other percussion instruments as well. They played on toy xylophones as children. Now they have studied music to a high level. Their favourite piece is Fossils from the Carnival of Animals by Saint Saens. The xylophone is still their favourite instrument. After all, with names beginning with X, what would you expect?

E is for…

A euphonium is a brass instrument.  It is most likely to be found in a brass band.

Ear drums are another kind of drum, which is not a musical instrument.  Without our ear drums, we wouldn’t hear music in the usual way.  However, Evelyn Glennie is a wonderful deaf musician, who is a spokesperson and pioneer bringing music to people who would otherwise have been considered incapable of enjoying it, let alone performing it.  Please click on the link to see and hear her.
