Y is for yardstick #AtoZChallenge

For the A to Z in April Challenge 2019 I have picked some words, which are connected with physical space.

Y is for yardstick – a measuring pole.
At three foot long it’s less than a metre.
With modern technology having a rôle
Other measuring techniques could be neater.

A yard brush is not a yardstick!

Yardstick is a word, like benchmark, which is often used figuratively. It is literally a measuring stick three feet long. Nowadays there are ways of measuring using laser technology. I have seen painters and decorators using this sort of device to measure a room.

The units used in the Bible were different from those used in modern-day Europe and North America. If you live somewhere else in the world, I’d like to see in the comments what units you use for length. That was my word for the Letter L and I wrote about units there.

The prophet Ezekiel had a detailed vision of the measurements for the new temple in Jerusalem after the exile. Ezekiel 40-44
