B is for box #AtoZChallenge

For the A to Z in April Challenge 2019 I have picked some words, which are connected with physical space.

B is for box – a 3-D container.
It can be long or short, deep or flat,
Decorated lavishly or plainer.
Put on the lid and that’s that!

In my previous post I mentioned a lavishly decorated container. If you missed it click on this link to go back or this one to read about it in the Bible.

Nature is full of curves. I am not aware of a naturally occurring box-shape (a cuboid). However there are other meanings of the word box. To fight with the fists is to box and there is a species of plant known as box. If you haven’t read enough of my musings about this short word beginning with B, why not head over to my ancient (in blogging terms) post for Boxing Day 2012? (It is on my original blog Sue’s considered trifles.)

Oh, what about a photo? Here is a variegated box.

  1. I’ve got a lot of boxes in my home. So much stuff where no where to go but boxes that end up in the garage or closets. Having a lot of boxes is probably a sign that one has too much stuff.

    • Perhaps box hedges are more usual in the UK than in the US. In formal gardens of stately homes there are usually box hedges. Ordinary gardens may have them too, but they grow rather slowly.
Boxes often can be re-used. 🙂

  2. Hello fellow A-To-Zer! I have a lot of boxes in my house. Like, a lot of them. I am using one for a footrest right now. Someday, I will recycle it. For now, it is lurking under my dining room table, with several friends.
