D is for Dyer

Once again I have picked a theme for the A to Z Challenge. This time I aim to entertain rather than to educate. My theme is careers or occupations. I begin with a piece of creative writing.

Dinah and Dylan are dyers. They are artisan workers, who use old methods to dye homespun wool. Their dyes are produced from plants, some of which they grow themselves. They believe that the old methods are the best. Some modern dyes may require more energy to produce and could cause more pollution than plant-based dyes.

  1. A dyer is an occupation that I’d never considered, but I don’t know that I’d have much interest in doing that. I have a few purple shirts. I probably don’t look very royal wearing them though.
