Christmas Eve prayer
I came across an idea from another blogger for every state in the USA to have a blogger write a prayer for Christmas Eve. Bloggers from other countries were invited as well. Although the UK was already represented by at least one other blogger, I decided to join in.
The list of participating blogs is here.

When I write down a prayer, it is influenced by the style I am used to in the Anglican Communion. I grew up with the Book of Common Prayer and now we have a more modern version known as Common Worship. Common means “for everyone”.
So here is my Christmas prayer:-
O God, our heavenly Father,
We praise and thank you for your many gifts to us.
At this time of Christmas we remember your mercy
in sending us your son, Jesus to be our saviour.
We pray for all the people of the world,
especially for those who are in any hardship at this time:
the lonely, those suffering in body, mind or spirit, refugees and all those without a home.
We pray for all who are working to alleviate suffering, to bring about peace and to spread the good news about Jesus Christ, the Prince
of Peace, who reigns with you and the Holy Spirit and in whose name we pray. Amen
And (as a bonus) my prayer for my readers is that you may know the joy and peace of Christmas throughout the years to come.
Amen. May you have a Merry Christmas and many blessings in the year to come.

Thank you, Hilary. I like your blog, but find it difficult to comment on other platforms. It does not always find its way to my WordPress reader either. Sue
